16 Function: Medium voltage load allocator (MVLA) Short-description: Allows observability constraints to be solved that could prevent the execution of other tools, such as Optimal Power Flow (OPF). Runs in two different timeframes: (i) hours-ahead, where forecasts generated at different times are combined to construct future operating scenarios for the MV network; (ii) close to real-time, to support the monitoring and control of the network, e.g., combines SCADA measurements (HV/MV feeders) collected with very high refresh rate with power measurements from MV/LV collected with 1-day to 1-week delay. Innovative features: • Uses multiple sources of information, including forecasts, and combines them to obtain coherent scenarios. • Probabilistic alarms on the occurrence of a network constraint violation. Final TRL: 8 Function: Multi-period Optimal Power Flow (MPOPF) Short-description: Estimates and “reserves” flexibility- based actions to meet grid technical constraints while focusing on a specific objective defined by the user (e.g., flexibility cost minimization, network power loss minimization). The optimization engine provides: (i) a network reconfiguration algorithm that defines optimal open/close states for switching devices within the considered time frame; (ii) multi-period constraints for on-load tap changer (max number of tap positions) and energy storage units (state-of-charge). Uses information from the load/RES forecasting tools and load allocator. Innovative features: • Inclusion of inter-temporal constraints for different resources, e.g. storage, DR rebound effect. • Use of sparse matrices reduces the algorithm memory and computational requirements. Final TRL: 8 Advanced DistributionManagement System (ADMS) solution – MV grid Function: GE´s Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is a GE software solution for distribution optimization, outage response and DER orchestration management for the DSO. It has been integrated into the InteGrid project as an essential part of the Portuguese Demonstrator, developing innovative new product capabilities and configuring integrations either with EDP legacy systems or other partners. The GE ADMS core product (now part of ADMS Series 6 1 ) was enhanced to add the following new main capabilities: • The ability to run Power Flow studies over a future time range to find violations. • Constraint resolution withMPOPF: Ability to receive the recommended actions for the flexible resources (setpoint action and connection/disconnection). • Simulation of setpoint actions in power flow studies. Final TRL: 9 Flexibility Management in LV Distribution Grids Concept: The DSO contracts flexibility services from domestic prosumers through the grid and market hub. This flexibility is enabled by the home energy management system (HEMS) and aggregated by a Flexibility Operator. The DSO will be able to comply with the requirements of EN 50160, or other more stringent criteria defined in national legislation, by implementing predictive management and real-time monitoring of voltage profiles. Preventive management takes into consideration the net-load and solar photovoltaic forecasts for a predefined time in order to define a series of control actions to “reserve” flexibility and prevent technical problems. In real-time operation, the state of the grid is analysed (with an LV state estimator) and if there are no significant deviations from the preventive management scenario, the pre-booked flexibility is activated.
