Integrid - Bridging the Gap
29 The InteGrid Digital Platform is the project’s data lake where most of the information will originate. Over 3,000 demonstration installations have provided information to the demonstrator as a whole, including private clients (e.g. LV residential customers) and DSO installations (e.g. secondary substations). As shown in Figure 4.7, IDP acts as a data lake in the architecture, absorbing information from all types of installations (both LV and MV). Results The Portuguese demonstrator focused on studying the capability to solve grid constraint violations and decreasing grid power losses with the help of flexibility- based actions provided not only by grid assets (e.g. on-load tap changers), but also by end customers actively participating in the market. Achieving such goals was only possible by deploying a complex infrastructure of tools and services capable of performing predictive management of distribution grid assets. Results from HLUC01 The sequence of steps outlined in Figure 4.8 describes the architecture of HLUC1, which starts with the execution of a 24 hour predictive PF study to detect potential grid constraint violations. Whenever such occurrences are foreseen, MPOPF is executed and, based on the available flexibility resources, it suggests a series of control-actions. After validation by the network operator, these suggestions should be pre-booked using the DSO tool. Prior to sending activation signals to the flexibility resources via the tVPP, an RT OPF should be run so that the predictive plan, which was based on forecasts, can be updated if necessary. Finally, the operator observes the resources being activated and evaluates whether any additional action is required. The deployment of this architecture in the field made the execution of an end-to-end demonstration possible. The chain of processes involved ranged from the forecasting of technical problems and their management to the real-activation of flexibility-based actions.
