24 Figure 3.9 – Energy feedback and social functions in LocalLife. a) b) c) Short-description: The most relevant sustainability features for the InteGrid project are electricity feedback and Pause Hour events. Residents can see their energy feedback based on their daily, weekly or monthly consumption compared to other neighbouring households (Figure 3.9(a)). The demand flexibility feature known as Pause Hour (Figure 3.9(b)), allows residents to collectively participate in a behavioural demand response scheme and attempt to reduce their electricity consumption during peak consumption hours. Provided such peak hours are known in advance, a push notification is sent out to all LocalLife users, leading to a page where they can choose to participate, see their individual savings goal for the Pause Hour, and see tips on how to achieve this goal (Figure 32(b)). In addition to sustainability features, LocalLife promotes local social cohesion among residents through features such as an internal feed for the building feeds/discussions (Figure 3.9(c)), Marketplace, Direct Messaging and Neighbour Contacts Figure 3.9.
