The latter manages flexibility available, while maintaining the comfort level of each building. Prototype An EDP C controller (BMS), placed on site, communicates with the building’s thermal control system (TCS) receiving all themain process information and updating EDP Comercial’s database. This data is processed to develop a flexibility estimation model which results in the flexibility available at any given time. When the time comes, depending on market acknowledgment, the flexibility accepted makes the central system trigger the entire BMS model selected, in a merit order, and these devices act on local TCS so as to use each building’s thermal inertia either positively (turning off consumption) or negatively (turning on consumption). LocalLife focuses on social needs in neighbourhoods, helping residents connect with each other on various local issues and events, thus creating a sense of belonging and trust. This creates an appropriate context to provide them with personalized energy feedback on how much electricity they consume and how it compares to other households in the local community and in general. Prototype LocalLife combines features from a social network with energy feedback in a local context, setting it apart from other energy conservation or social networking apps on the market.
